History
House music originated in the early 1980s in Chicago, Illinois, USA. The sound was created by a group of DJs and producers who were experimenting with disco, funk, and soul music, as well as electronic instruments like drum machines and synthesizers. The name "house" is said to have come from the famous Chicago nightclub, The Warehouse, where one of the pioneers of the genre, Frankie Knuckles, played a mix of these genres to create a new style of dance music.
Over time, the sound evolved and diversified into different subgenres, including deep house, acid house, progressive house, techno etc. Today, house music remains a popular genre and has influenced many other styles of dance music.
